On June 16, a significant day in South Africa’s history, we commemorated National Youth Day not just in remembrance, but in action. In honour of the youth who stood for change in 1976, we brought young people together to equip, empower and enlighten them with tools to build a better future. This year, we marked the occasion with an impactful Career Expo, and what a success it was!
With an impressive turnout of over a thousand learners from various schools in the Eastrand, the atmosphere was buzzing with curiosity, ambition and hope. The expo served as a vibrant hub of information and inspiration, offering learners direct access to exhibition stalls from universities, training institutions, funding organisations, and career guidance agencies. These stalls provided critical resources and practical information on tertiary applications, bursary opportunities, STEM careers, gap year options, learnerships, and more.
One of the highlights of the day was the well-curated programme that featured panel discussions, testimonials from former tertiary students, and interactive sessions that covered real-life transitions from high school to higher education. Learners were able to engage with professionals, ask relevant questions, and gain a realistic view of life after matric.
The event wasn’t just educational—it was fun too! The giveaways, energising presentations and motivational stories kept the learners engaged from start to finish. The day reminded us that when we invest in young minds, we invest in a stronger, more equipped South Africa.
This powerful initiative would not have been possible without the dynamic partnership of Incorruptible, People Matter Foundation, Devoted Citizen Movement, Hope Business Connect, and Hope Restoration Ministries. Together, we stood united to uplift, inform and empower the leaders of tomorrow.
As we look ahead, our mission remains clear—to ensure that every young person knows they matter, their future matters, and they are not alone on their journey. Here's to many more initiatives that transform Youth Day into a launchpad of opportunity.
