Comrades Marathon

Hope Restoration Ministries is thrilled to celebrate another inspiring milestone! Our very own Runners of Hope running club proudly had over 70 athletes line up for the legendary Comrades Marathon—a race famously known as The Ultimate Human Race. Held in KwaZulu-Natal, this 90km ultra-marathon from Pietermaritzburg to Durban drew more than 22,000 participants from around the globe.

This year’s race was particularly special for us. Out of all the local and international organizations involved, the People Matter Foundation was once again selected as one of only 48 official refreshment station hosts along the route—a huge honor and responsibility.

After a successful debut last year, the Comrades Marathon Association didn’t hesitate to invite us back for another explosive, high-impact refreshment station—and we delivered!

Stationed around the critical halfway point, our water station has quickly become a runner favorite. Many athletes shared how unforgettable it is to pass through our vibrant stop—describing it as memorable, spirit-lifting, and energy-injecting. With organized service, smiling volunteers, uplifting songs, heartfelt prayers, and fuel for both body and soul, our station was more than a pit stop—it was a place of hope and revival on a tough journey.

None of this would have been possible without the generosity and vision of Hope Restoration Ministries. Your continued support reminds us that church is more than four walls—it’s about taking hope into the streets, onto the roads, and into the hearts of all we encounter.
