Hope Restoration Ministries, together with Runners of Hope and the People Matter Foundation, is passionate about making a lasting impact—and there’s no better place to do that than Ethembeni School in Durban. This incredible school, which caters to children with special needs, has a special place in our hearts. Every visit is filled with joy, love, and unforgettable moments shared with the amazing students and dedicated staff.

A School Built on Hope

True to its name, Ethembeni—which means "Place of Hope"—is exactly that: a sanctuary where children  who need that extra love and care are nurtured, empowered, and loved. Located in sunny Durban, it’s a space that continually inspires us to do more, give more, and be more.

Over the past year, we’ve been busy with projects that are not only practical but transformational:

·       Access to Clean Water: The school was facing serious water shortages, so we got to work and installed a borehole. Now, clean water flows freely—a game changer for the entire community.

·       Clearer Vision, Brighter Futures: Many children with impaired vision received their very first pair of spectacles. Their smiles said it all—they could finally see the world clearly!

·       Uniforms That Inspire Confidence: We provided brand-new uniforms, giving students a renewed sense of pride and belonging. It was a small gesture with a big emotional impact.

·       Colorful Learning Spaces: The once-dull classrooms and school hall now burst with vibrant colors, making learning more fun and stimulating.

·       Food and Mobility Support: We helped meet basic needs by distributing food parcels and donating wheelchairs, ensuring that no child is left behind.

Looking Ahead: Hope is Ongoing

We’re just getting started! There are still many dreams to fulfill at Ethembeni, and we’re committed to continuing this journey of love and service. Whether it's through more projects, fun days, or simply showing up, we’re excited about what’s to come.
